Writs of Certiorari
Petitions for Writs of Certiorari to the United States Supreme Court are due within 90 days after the proper, final order of the highest appellate court. The costs of these alone, between filing fee, printing and binding, can exceed $2,000 (unless you are a pauper. Supreme Court "justice" is not for the middle class!) These are rarely granted - 3 percent or so overall, and realistically, considerably less than that when the judgment to be reviewed is unpublished. Only petitions raising an unsettled issue of federal law have a prayer of being granted - and "granted" means that the U.S. Supreme Court will hear the case, not that they will reverse the judgment.
